The roller coaster that is supporting Leeds Utd evident again as they kicked off the championship with a 3-3 draw with Pompey.

A bright start saw Gnonto, Ampadu and Gruev hit the bar inside the first 10 minutes before Struijk opened the scoring from the spot after James was fouled. Leeds were coasting early on and maybe resulted in complacency as they got sloppy and conceded an equaliser when Meslier should have done better with a shot at his near post, and then a worldie from Lang gave the away side a half time lead.

A lively start to the second half saw Gnonto level the game and Leeds wasted numerous openings to take the lead. With 20 mins to go Farke replaced Gruev, James and Gnonto with Aaronson, Rothwell and Piroe.

However rather than give Leeds impetus they lost momentum, and although Portsmouth were limited to set pieces and no clear efforts, Bogle gave away a penalty on 90 minutes that Lang converted which seemed to have given his side a shock win.

Two subs though combined as Piroe fed Aaronson and he snuck home an equaliser and then missed a sitter to win it in the final minute of added time.

Leeds has the possession and chances to win it, but could easily have come away empty handed at 3-2 down with two minutes left.

Lots to work on defensively, Rodon was off colour and Bogle exposed defensively both in the air from goal kicks and frequent rash fouls. Pushing the full backs as high as they did also leaves them more exposed on transition.

It was could to see so many chances created and all the forward players used looked lively, Farke has a job to do to find the right blend and the right changes from the bench at the right time.

A typical Leeds start to the season, on to Middlesboro next
